How long does a car battery last?
A car battery will eventually deteriorate until it is unable to hold a charge, this will depend on a number of factors such as cold weather conditions, your driving habits and your vehicle type. Our batteries come with a 4 year guarantee and our NAPA Plus, NAPA AFB and NAPA AGM batteries come with a 5 year guarantee.
Battery maintenance

You should aim to have it checked by a professional at least twice a year. The battery will be checked during the annual MOT test but you should arrange for the battery to be tested again mid-way between MOTs.

Battery Guarantee terms and conditions
Any battery purchased from Pro-tech is covered. All products supplied and fitted by Pro-tech are guaranteed against faulty workmanship or manufacturing defects. The original cash sales invoice is required as proof of purchase before any guarantee work can be carried out. Please attach this guarantee to your original cash sales invoice and keep them in a safe place. Prior to making any claim, please refer to the following:
- Pro-tech will either repair or replace the defective battery on the vehicle free of charge (subject to the conditions of the guarantee).
- Parts that fail due to criminal or malicious damage, vandalism, improper use, fire, theft, use in competitive sport, road accident, repair by another garage and accidental impact damage are all excluded.
- 4-year guarantee applies to batteries
- If a part is removed from the vehicle by another company or individual the guarantee does not apply.
- Guarantees are not transferable.
- All guarantees apply from the date of original purchase.
- If suitable replacement parts are no longer available, Pro-tech reserve the right to discharge any obligation by refunding the amount originally paid for the part(s).
- The guarantee applies to private motorists only and excludes taxis, mini cabs, driving school vehicles and any vehicles used for business or commercial purposes.
- Pro-tech guarantees are in addition to, and do not detract from your statutory rights.
